February 24, 2004
February 24th is Grey Tuesday
I slapped together this graphic for EFF's main page:
"An artist named DJ Danger Mouse combines Jay-Z's Black Album with the Beatles' White Album to produce, you guessed it, the Grey Album. Music criticslove it. Fans adore it. But the Beatles' record label, EMI, dispatches the lawyers. So, do you think the four lads from Liverpool would have refused to make the White Album, but for an exclusive right to silence future artists like DJ Danger Mouse? We don't think so either. If this isn't fair use, what is?
Hey, EMI, leave the remixers alone."
