This Baby Was Raised by TiVo

Observations on a child who has only ever had a TiVo-enabled television:
Second - Commercials are an infrequent novelty to her. We always fast-forward through commercials, or watch non-commercial shows. When she does occasionally see a full commercial, she's fascinated, and will often ask us to stop so she can see what's going on. How can we demonstrate to her the evils of commercial interruption, when she has never had to experience it?

Kids these days have it so easy...boy in my day kids used to be the target of evil marketing strategies...and we liked it!

Wow. That is an amazing perspective. I love how the author has to tell her daughter that the TV is "broken" when they are away from home because she can't understand why she can't do the same things with the foreign TV as she can with the TiVo TV at home. It also demonstrates the point that commercials aren't annoying in and of themselves, they can be quite interesting in fact. The issue I think is the quantity of commercials vs the quantity of programming (the signal to noise ratio) and the quality of the commercials (the "why should I watch this?" question).
