P2P Summer Numbers Drop 15%
The weather is nice, students are on vacation, and the RIAA is preparing hundreds of lawsuits against P2P users. While the 15% drop in P2P traffic beat the 9% drop in IM traffic, it's not clear what kind of reduction this indicates. For instance, the same number of users may be on the nets, but they may think twice about leaving their clients running all night long. These kinds of behavioral shifts can be just as damaging to the efficacy of the nets, but it may not indicate a straight drop in users.
