Court Says Sydney University Must Roll on Students
Record labels have been pursuing Australian students for file-sharing, but they may be getting closer to some names. Sydney University has claimed that the sought-after data no longer exists because regularly-scheduled backups overwrote the files. Today, Justice Brian Tamberlin ordered the school to fork over the media and foot the bill for data recovery. This doesn't bode well for anti data-retention advocates in Oz.
